Booking Notes

Watersports guests

In season (Nov – mid March) the Club’s focus is on providing accommodation for kitesurfers, windsurfers, surfers; other sportspeople; and +1s. Out of season we are happy to accommodate other guests.

Checkin / checkout days

Please note when booking flights that we try to avoid checkins/checkouts on Sundays and public holidays (e.g. Christmas Day, New Year’s Day).

Children / minors

The Club is not suitable for ‘children’. Quite when a child becomes a young adult depends on the child in question … sometime around 14? 16? If your family member is a keen kitesurfer in their own right (rather than just a +1) then younger may be OK. Give us a call to discuss.

Self-catered

The Club is self-catering but coffee and tea are available throughout the day “on the house” and Pierre will put out his legendary muffins most days.

About once a week we have a “braai night” when we light the BBQ and sit down to eat together. Just give Pierre whatever you want cooking on the fire and while he BBQs we all make salads.

Water Wise

The 2016 drought is a long time ago now. However the rainy season in Cape Town is June - August and there is a long, hot and dry Summer., so we aim to be “water wise”. This means short showers, turning the tap off when brushing teeth and similar water-saving measures.

Cancellations and shortened stays

Please note that once you have a confirmed booking there are no free cancellations or right to shorten your trip. Instead if you wish to cancel or shorten your trip we will remarket your rooms and try to fill them again. If we are succesful then what you owe us will be reduced by what we receive from the replacement guest. As there is extra work involved in handling cancelled/shortened stays and remarketing rooms, and processing alterations and refunds, we charge a small admin fee (300 Rand) for doing this. The unexpected (injury, illness, job demands etc.) can happen, so we recommend you take out travel insurance to cover yourself against the need to cancel or defer your trip.

From our side we will only cancel a booking if we literally cannot honour it e.g. Act of God (fire, meteor strike) or something else outside of our control; or if there is an accidental over booking (only happened once in 11 years of operation and even then we managed to sort something out). If we do cancel we will of course refund you and we will do everything in our power to find appropriate alternative accommodation for you.

Extras and Discounts

We charge a R330 supplement for arrivals or departures on a Sunday or a public holiday in South Africa.

We offer three types of discount: “early season long booking”, “long stay” and “pro rider/team rider/kite industry”.

However: Discounts only apply in Le Morne, Cabarete, Cauipe, Qoodmans and Squamish rooms.

We don’t discount Rhosneigr (our master/premium room) or the annex (our shared room, which is the best value room in Cape Town anyway).

We discount for in early/late season and mid season (but not peak).

Discount amounts:

Early season long stay: although November is probably the best month for kitesurfing in Cape Town guests are sometimes slow to arrive, so to encourage you … if you come for most of November and / or early December we will “do a deal”. Contact us with your dates and we will make you an offer you won’t want to refuse.

Long stay discount: Stay of 15-20 nights 10%; 21-29 nights: 15%; 30 nights or more: 20% (in each case of all nights other than peak season nights). Stays of up to 14 are not discounted, sorry.

Industry discount: Discounts available for team riders and similar – availability and amount varies so please enquire.

Payment

When: If it is a large booking (5000 Rand or more) and for a checkin date more than 30 days in the future we ask for 30% on booking and the balance shortly after arrival. For smaller bookings (up to 5000 Rand) or with a checkin date up to 30 days after booking we ask for full payment in advance.

How: By direct bank transfer in Euro, GBP, USD or CAD. Or by Revolut. Sorry but we do not take card payments or Paypal. When in South Africa we also accept payment in local currency (Rand) cash. There are ATMs near the house.

For transfers and cash payments if you don’t pay in ZAR (Rand) exchange rates are worked out on the day of payment.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
